Show your work while completing this problem set. Type your responses into Word (you can use the equation editor if you need to get fancy), or add space between the questions, print it out, write your answers, scan it, and upload it back. (Word is preferred.) Google Docs has a LaTeX add-in that will let you make nice equations, but you are not required to go that far.
You should not need lots of materials to complete this problem set. Everything you really need is on the first page.
Understanding simple proportions and binomials will help you understand the basis of probability, which you will use when you calculate conditional probability and Markov processes.
When you are working with the data for your final project, you may have to convert them to probabilities in order to analyze them. This assignment shows you how to do that.
If you have questions as you work through this problem set, go to the Problem Set 2 Discussion Topic to seek assistance from your peers and instructor.
