Task purpose: Middle Years Humanities may can be a crowded (and potentially contested) space in schools with regard to the content being offered. It may also vary by mode of implementation. Familiarisation with the 7-10 Victorian Curriculum more broadly and the scope within it to feature particular relevant financial education areas, is seen as advantageous to this end. Relatedly, the selection of relevant, current and stimulating resources can assist in the delivery of subsequent lessons on a chosen issue which are both varied and engaging. Task details: Select one of the topics below pertaining to teaching and learning across Years 7-10: Managing money – saving, credit and spending Making and financing a relevant purchase Investing and financial planning for the future A topic different from those above, subject to the consent of the Unit Coordinator There are a number of parts to this task, as presented below. Part A should be composed of the following: A rationale for the inclusion of teaching and learning on the selected topic as part of a given school’s offering of Years 7-10 Victorian Curriculum Humanities and in terms of its promotion of financial literacy. As part of the rationale, connections should be developed between teaching and learning on the selected topic and particular aspects of the Education Goals for Young Australians contained with the Alice Springs Education Declaration
