NUR 640 6-1 Short Paper: Item Analysis Example

It is important to understand item difficulty and item discrimination ratios as well as point biserial in the analysis of testing. Practice with item analysis will help you with interpretation in your own course or program. Refer to the item analysis example provided in Evaluation and Testing in Nursing Education on page 232.

In a short paper, answer the following questions:

  • Which item is the most difficult? What makes it a higher difficulty item?

  • Which item is the easiest?

  • Which item causes you to question its validity?

  • What does the range of discrimination indices tell you?
