1. Recognise the role and limitations of research in the context of academic and theoretical debates and of practical and organisational requirements. 2. Critically evaluate alternative research approaches by constructing arguments supported by the literature. 3. Demonstrate your master's level scholarly thinking and writing skills. Task: Drawing on your reading of methodological considerations, and choosing at least two peer reviewed research papers (one on quantitative and one on qualitative research - from the case study examples in the Resources section of this VLE or other papers selected by you), identify and critically examine how theoretical perspectives can influence and underpin research design and methods. Explain which of the current theoretical views and methodologies are most relevant to the research outlined by the authors and provide a critical review of their work from this research design perspective.
